SWAGA, APC Chieftains Begin Mobilisation For Tinubu, Hamzat
Members of the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) have set Friday, 13th of November, 2026, as the date for the commencement of its grassroots mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Media and Publicity, Hon. Lanre Odubote, the decision is sequel to a meeting held in Lagos on Monday, which was presided over by the Chairman of SWAGA in the state, Hon. Monsuru Owolabi, and also had in attendance the National Secretary of the group, Hon. Bosun Oladele.
Also in attendance was the Convener and Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority and a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Oyetunji Ojo.
Odubote stated that the charge to re-elect President Tinubu is being led by Hon. Ojo who is the Convener, Senator Gbenga Obadara and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nigeria Ports Authority, (NPA), Senator Dayo Adeyeye who is the national coordinator of SWAGA.
SWAGA is a group of former federal and state Assembly members from the South Western part of the country who have resolved to campaign for the re-election of President Tinubu come 2027.
The group is also composed of other prominent chieftains of the APC across the six states making up the South West region.
Tagged SWAGA 2.0, the event is scheduled to take place in the Blue Roof, located in the Agidingbi area of Ikeja in Lagos, and will have chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in attendance.
Hon. Odubote, who represented Epe Federal Constituency in the 8th Assembly in the House of Representatives, pointed out that the Lagos State chapter of SWAGA, led by Hon. Owolabi, has put in place all the necessary machinery for the takeoff of the series of events.
The statement added that speakers at the event include a former National Legal Adviser of the APC, Dr Muiz Banire; the Managing Director of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr Kayode Opeifa; as well as Professor Yemi Oke of the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos.
“I am happy to inform you that SWAGA is back again, and what we are doing this time is SWAGA 2.0, put together to ensure the return of our amiable leader who is putting the country back in shape. We are working day and night to bring our members together to shore up the needed support for President Tinubu, just as we did the last time.
“We did it before, and we want to do it again,” he wrote, adding that the formal commencement of activities will begin with a summit that would have prominent members of the APC in attendance as speakers and resource persons who would provide the needed intellectual compass to the SWAGA 2.0 efforts.
“We are going to bring in in-house resource persons within the party to speak on different aspects of our campaign efforts. I mean the likes of Dr Muiz Banire and Dr Kayode Opeifa to spur us on the way forward,” he said.
According to him, the group will leverage the experience and expertise of Hon. Owolabi, a four-time member of the House of Representatives and a grassroots mobiliser with mass appeal, to carry out their assignment.
