The Adamawa State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Galadima has hailed the defection of the 21 Local Government Council Chairmen along side their councillorship to the party.

Galadima described their decision as timely, well-considered and a significant step towards strengthening the party’s unity, political dominance and electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He expressed optimism that the growing cohesion within the APC would translate into greater political success in 2027 and, more importantly, a renewed commitment to delivering prosperity, security, inclusion and sustainable development for the people of Adamawa State.

While congratulating them for what he called a “decision that reflects sound judgment, a commitment to the collective interest of the state and a willingness to identify with a political platform that offers a common vision for progress and development”.

According to him, the defection represents more than a change of political affiliation, it signals a growing consensus around the leadership, direction and aspirations of the APC, as well as renewed confidence in the party’s capacity to consolidate its gains and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people.

The APC Governorship Candidate particularly commended the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his political sagacity, inclusive leadership and remarkable ability to build bridges, inspire confidence and galvanize support across political divides.

Galadima Aminu noted that the governor’s leadership and political engagements have created a new atmosphere of unity, confidence and shared purpose within the party, adding that the decision of the 21 council chairmen underscores the growing appeal of the APC under his leadership.

According to him, the convergence of political leaders and grassroots structures under one platform presents an opportunity to deepen cooperation, strengthen governance and build a more formidable political organisation capable of responding effectively to the aspirations of the people.

The defection of all 21 Local Government Council Chairmen is a major political development for our party and a strong indication of the direction in which Adamawa State is moving.

“Your choice reflects political foresight and an understanding that the future of our state is best served by unity, purposeful leadership and a shared commitment to development”, Galadima said.

The candidate expressed confidence that the development has substantially altered the political landscape in Adamawa State, leaving the APC in a stronger position and presenting the opposition with a formidable challenge in 2027.

He urged party leaders, elected officials, stakeholders and supporters to see the growing unity within the APC as an opportunity to promote peace, strengthen democratic participation and place the welfare of Adamawa people at the centre of political engagement.

He called on all members of the APC, old and new, to close ranks, put aside personal differences and work together in the collective interest of the party and the state. He stressed that the strength of the APC lies not merely in its numbers but in the unity of purpose, discipline, mutual respect and commitment to the people that its members bring to the table.

Galadima Aminu reaffirmed his commitment to working with Governor Fintiri, the party leadership, the newly welcomed council chairmen and other stakeholders to advance the vision of a greater Adamawa State where development is sustained, opportunities are expanded and every citizen has a stake in the state’s progress.

It will be recalled that the chairmen and their councillors were elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), before they technically dumped the party and maneuvered their ways for APC in their own interest.
