APC Integrity Group Defends Yari, Says Allegations Of Sponsoring Anti-Tinubu Agitations Are False
The APC Integrity Group has dismissed allegations that former Governor of Zamfara State and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, is sponsoring agitations against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the claims as false, malicious, and politically motivated.
In a statement jointly signed by its National Coordinator, Ardo Zubairu, and National Secretary, Goodluck Okafor, the group said the allegations were aimed at tarnishing Yari’s image and creating unnecessary divisions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group maintained that Yari remains one of President Tinubu’s strongest allies in Northern Nigeria and has consistently demonstrated loyalty to the President and commitment to the success of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the statement, it is illogical to suggest that a politician who has maintained a cordial and productive relationship with President Tinubu would engage in activities intended to undermine the administration.
The APC Integrity Group argued that the allegations were largely linked to political developments surrounding the contest for the leadership of the 10th Senate in 2023, during which Yari exercised his constitutional and democratic right to seek the office of Senate President.
It noted that contesting for a leadership position within a democratic institution should not be misconstrued as opposition to either the President or the government, stressing that such contests are normal features of democratic governance.
The group further described Yari as one of the APC’s most influential political figures, with extensive grassroots support, national appeal, and proven organisational capacity. It added that he remains qualified to aspire to any leadership position within the country’s political landscape.
The statement also expressed confidence in Yari’s ability to play a strategic role in the party’s future electoral fortunes, stating that he possesses the competence, experience, and political network required to lead President Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While urging party members and the general public to disregard the allegations, the group cautioned against smear campaigns and deliberate misinformation targeted at prominent APC leaders for narrow political interests.
The statement added that Senator Yari has consistently demonstrated through his actions, public engagements, and support for party initiatives that he remains committed to the success of President Tinubu’s administration, the unity of the APC, and the progress of Nigeria.
The APC Integrity Group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting credible leadership within the ruling party and pledged its continued support for individuals it described as possessing integrity, competence, and dedication to public service.
